This is Laid-Off Dad's 700th post.
What do you think of when you hear the number 700? Home runs? SAT scores? James Bond for dyslexics?
A deluded old fool who thinks prayer changes the weather?
I think of all those things, but I also think of almost 9 years of blogging, and how writing through it helped me live through it. And it seems really fitting that it would come on a travel day toward a conference about dad blogging, and right after the 10th anniversary of my fatherhood.
Whether you've been around since the beginning or found me in Parenting magazine yesterday, thank you for reading. People say blogging can change your life, and that is no joke. I'm grateful for all the friends I've made, for the solace I've received and given, and for all of you who persevered through the ins and outs, the doubts and droughts (when no one knew my whereabouts).
The two most reliable constants in my life, the things that continue to inspire and define me and demand the lion's share of my enthusiasms, are writing and fatherhood. And it thrills me to have the chance to fly down to Austin this week and celebrate both.
