First of all, have you entered to win this phone business? The contest is more than half over, and since I hope all of you will be as far from the Internet as possible during the holiday--and comatose in front of the TV instead--now might be the time to get another comment in before the whole thing shuts down on Monday.
Secondly, have you noticed a proliferance of three-week-old lip-sweaters in your life? It's been great to see men from every corner of blogdom taking part in Movember, and greater still to see many of their 'staches finally in full bloom. I've been a big believer in the do-gooding power of personal blogs ever since a de-lurking experiment turned into a donation bonanza, and I'm holding great hope that we can trap lightning in a bottle one more time. If you have a moment to click over and give whatever you can, even just a buck or two, that would be tremendous.
And thirdly, I was working on a post about Thanksgiving for WTFGU when it occurred to me that I had written all this before. It turns out that I did, just about half my divorce ago, and I found some comfort in realizing that, apart from the job stuff, not much had changed. My folks are still alive, my friendships are intact, and my children are a healthy, noisy, filthy, scatalogical, temperamental, ravenous, curious, and indefatigable part of my daily life.
I read today that "maintaining an attitude of gratitude can improve psychological, emotional and physical well-being." So thank you for reading, for contributing, and for supporting whatever it is I'm trying to do here. I don't know if I'm feeling good or just becoming more comfortable with my core misery, but if believing the former buys me more time on this earth with these kids, sign me up.
