Laziness is ...
... getting some cheese from the fridge, reaching blindly into into the dish drainer for a paring knife, sitting down in the living room, realizing that the knife you grabbed is actually a citrus zester, and spending the next half hour zesting Monterey Jack onto your crackers.

You have a citrus zester. Heh.

I think you may have inadvertantly started a new dieting craze.

I wouldn't even know what a citrus zester was if we hadn't gone into a Swiss Army knife store once (yes - they used to have their own stores) where the pretensious clerk demonstrated a model that included a "ceeetrus zester". He said it that way with great aplomb while looking down the bridge of his uplifted nose. When we just stood there looking confused he repeated, "You DO know what a ceeetrus zester is, yes?"
Novel pronunciation not withstanding, he was still just a clerk in a knife store. You on the other hand are just a novelty ;-)

That IS lazy.

Lazy or no, it shows a zest for cheese and life! As your wife's people know, cheese is life! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I am very thankful for your blog.

True laziness is not bothering looking in a thesaurus and yielding "aplomb," for use. Much less figuring out how to use it in its proper context. Maybe I just lack the sangfroid.

that made me chuckle.

I would so do this. I should be embarassed to admit that, but I'm not. I am lazy and I've got no shame, evidentally.

That was funny. :))

hey prego:
Which part of "aplomb" don't you get? Aplomb, n.: "Self-confident assurance; poise." Seems appropriate to me.
(p.s. I think you meant to say "not bothering TO LOOK in a thesaurus.")
p.p.s. You lack to "Coolness and composure, especially in trying circumstances" (=sangfroid) to do what, exactly?
I'm so confused!!! And I just wanted a fun new way to be lazy!

Jeanne,
Thanks for the edumacation in grammar. Humor-wise, I guess you and I tread in different vineyards. Maybe I should try the old "Reader's Digest" method you seem to espouse to avoid ruffling your feathers.
Congratulations on the purchase of your new dictionary.
